Oulton Park Round 2
“Following a successful Round 1 at Silverstone I was very excited to come to Oulton Park hopefully picking up from where I left off. But Oulton Park is a circuit I have struggled at on a 600 so my realistic aim was to be inside the top 10 to remain consistent for the championship. After a difficult couple of Free Practice sessions I was able to get my head down in qualifying and push to 11th which would set me up nicely for the start of the race. The race was really strange because we received all four seasons just before the race was due to start leaving us with a dilemma of tyre choice. Thinking that the track could dry, myself and the team decided to stick a dry rear tyre with a wet front with the option to change on the grid, which was exactly the case because the track was pretty much dry the whole way round on the citing lap so I knew we needed to put the dry front on. The grid was absolutely manic because everyone was trying to change their tyres in such a short space of time but my mechanics kept their cool and did an outstanding job to get the front dry on in time. When starting the race I knew we had made the right decision getting a good start and able to push on from the first corner completing the first lap in 8th place. I managed to maintain a good pace throughout the race ending up 7th overall holding 3rd position in the championship!”
