2023 British GP2 Champion

After a successful campaign in the 2022 British GP2 Championship finishing runner up, my sights were always going to be set on becoming Champion. Consistency was always going to be the most crucial part in picking up points, which was always pointed out by Larry who would say ‘points make prizes’.

The year started really strong at Silverstone with a P2 & P1 with the following race weekend continuing with a string of P2 finishes. After building up a decent amount of points mid-way through the season, an unfortunate incident at Cadwell Park took one of my championship rivals out of contention leading to a comfortable points gap. More 1st place and 2nd place finished kept the points coming leading to the penultimate race at Donington Park. The race to seal the deal just so happened to be wet which added to the stress of the day, but keeping a cool head and being mindful that finishing the race was the main objective meant we brought it home in 5th place in GP2 and coming away with the championship. That was the only race in the season that we didn’t finish on the podium, which goes to show how good a job the team did in stoping any mechanical issues and allowing us to be consistent throughout the whole season.

The year of course would not be possible without the support of my whole team, family and sponsors who put so much in to help me achieve this goal and I look forward to what the future holds. All I know is it will take a lot of work, but I have the people around me and drive to push on.
