Pre Season Testing at Seville & Guadix + Trip to Sweden in the middle
An Action-Packed Week Across Europe: Spain, Sweden & Back Again
The first week of March was nothing short of a whirlwind, taking me from Seville to Gothenburg and back to Spain again, balancing track time, travel, and a work event in between. It didn’t all go to plan, thanks to the unpredictable weather, but as always, just getting time on the bike is a pleasure.
Seville Circuit – A Rain-Interrupted Start
The trip kicked off at Sevilla Circuit, but even before we got to the track, the city itself had a surprise in store. Seville was buzzing with energy, and we quickly found out why – Real Betis was playing Real Madrid in La Liga, with the stadium right next to our hotel. The hotel reception told us it’s not usually that busy, but when Real Madrid comes to town, it’s a different story. Real Betis won, and the city was absolutely electric on Saturday night!
Sunday was our first scheduled day of riding, and we managed just two sighting laps before the rain set in. Unfortunately, that was the extent of our track time for the day. With no wets in our kit and the trackside wets already sold out, there was nothing to do but wait and hope for better weather.
Monday wasn’t any better, with persistent rain keeping us off the track entirely. Finally, on the last day at Sevilla, we got a dry morning of riding before I had to jet off to Sweden for a work event.
Gothenburg – D-Congress with Bluestone PIM
While my bike was transported from Seville to Guadix Circuit, I flew to Gothenburg for a D-Congress event with Bluestone PIM. This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our motorbike race simulator, which turned out to be a real crowd-puller on our stand! It was great working alongside Contentstack & Constructor, and we had an awesome time engaging with attendees. A big congrats to everyone who took part in the simulator challenge – some serious talent out there!
Guadix Circuit – Maximizing Track Time
After a successful two-day event in Sweden, it was time to head back to Spain, and thankfully, the weather looked much more promising. Arriving at Guadix Circuit, I was determined to make up for the lost track time in Seville.
Day 1 at Guadix was perfect – I managed seven 30-minute sessions, maximizing every lap and quickly dialing into the circuit. I felt really sharp, getting up to speed quickly and putting in consistent laps, which was a great confidence boost.
Day 2 wasn’t quite as productive, with the weather shifting between almost dry and wet, making it tricky to commit to a full session. I still managed to get some laps in, but the conditions were constantly changing.
Day 3 followed a similar pattern – mostly dry, but occasional rain showers kept breaking up the consistency of track time. Still, I managed a race run in one of the sessions, which was valuable for working on pace and consistency over a full stint.
Final Thoughts
All in all, despite the weather challenges, it was an incredible week. Whenever I get to ride my bike, it’s a privilege, and the time I did get on track was super valuable. It’s just a shame I couldn’t do more of it! Throughout the trip, we were only using scrub tyres, so getting strong pace even with that limitation was a positive takeaway.
Now, back in the UK and already looking ahead to the next opportunity to get on the bike. Let’s hope for some dry days ahead!
